Instructions to include Genvoya:
The combination antiretroviral whose brand name is Genvoya is included in these medication files. On the RSR side of things, in clinical encounters, under medication setup, there is a bit of an issue because Genvoya and Stribild share the same DrugCode (this is not the same as an NDC, which is in the ADAP file only). Genvoya and Stribild are the same except that Genvoya contains a different formulation of Tenofovir (TAF) which employs a lower dose and has certain improved pharmaceutical properties compared to its counterpart in Stribild (TDF).
To distinguish these two antiretovirals in the RSR medications side of things (vs. ADAP), we recommend the following:
- Customize the name of the drug so that it is called “Stribild or Genvoya” (this is done in Admin Options> Clinical encounter setup> Medications setup>Advanced Options>Edit custom name)
- Distinguish the two by entering their very different total daily doses (800 mg in Stribild and 510mg for Genvoya). This is the sum for all four drugs in the combination.
- Use the comment field when prescribing to indicate which it is by name, as shown here:
A custom report has been created, showing how to identify clients taking Genvoya. Click here to download the custom report. This custom report can be imported into CAREWare using the Import from File option in Custom Reports.
The ingredient Tenofovir has this duplicate dcode issue:
tenofovir alafenamide
tenofovir disoproxil fumarate
These medications include:
Descovy = Truvada
Genvoya = Stribild
Odefsey = Complera
To distinguish the two antiretroviral medications Complera and Odefsey in the RSR medications side of things (vs. ADAP), we recommend the following:
- Customize the name of the drug so that it is called “Complera or Odefsey” (this is done in Admin Options> Clinical encounter setup> Medications setup>Advanced Options>Edit custom name)
- Distinguish the two by entering their very different total daily doses (525 mg in Complera and 250 mg for Odefsey). This is the sum for all four drugs in the combination.
- Use the comment field when prescribing to indicate which it is by name.
To distinguish the two antiretroviral medications Descovy and Truvada in the RSR medications side of things (vs. ADAP), we recommend the following:
- Customize the name of the drug so that it is called “Descovy or Truvada” (this is done in Admin Options> Clinical encounter setup> Medications setup>Advanced Options>Edit custom name)
- Distinguish the two by entering their very different total daily doses (500 mg in Truvada and 225 mg for Descovy). This is the sum for both drugs in the combination.
