CAREWare includes an option to display individual client's status for performance measures monitored by the provider in the client record. This can provide indicators for staff to check clients' records for data elements related to the results of those measures. Once the client tab is setup for these measures, CAREWare runs the performance measures selected for that one client, displaying the results as In Numerator, Not in Numerator, or Not in Denominator.
In Numerator - Client meets the criteria for the measure
Not in Numerator - Client fails to meet the criteria for the measure
Not in Denominator - Client is excluded from the measure entirely as they fail to meet the denominator criteria.
To setup the performance measure status in client records, follow these instructions:
-
Click Reports.
-
Click Performance Measures.
-
Click Setup Client Tab.
-
Click a measure to highlight it.
-
Click Select.
The order can be rearranged, by clicking a measure and then clicking Move Up or Move Down. Measures can be removed from the setup by clicking on the measure and clicking Deselect.
Once the measures are set for the provider in the client tab, the status can be generated in any client record for that provider by following these instructions:
-
Use Find Client to open a client record.
-
Click Performance Measure Status.
In this case, the client meets the measure for Retention in Care and is listed as Not In Numerator for Gap in HIV Medical Visits, which makes sense as the two are opposite ends of the same quality check. Retention is Care is meant to see they are getting regular medical visits and Gap in HIV Medical Visits is checking for clients that are missing recent required visits.
The client appears as Not In Numerator for HIV Viral Load Suppression, which may mean the client is not virally suppressed or is missing a viral load test for the year. This can be verified by reviewing the client's labs.
In this case, the client is missing a viral load within the last 12 months and therefore is missing that required test to meet the measure.
